Basic Instructions for using ASDM Sample Databases Included are a sample team and warrior database with a few warriors. Note that these warriors are existing warriors and some of their data has not been entered correctly. I've been using the program for over a year and many changes have been made since it's inception and my warriors haven't been updated for the changes. It is HIGHLY recommended that new users look at the sample databases before working with their own warriors. Options/Configuring ASDM There are menus from many screens to configure Palm Dm to your personal taste. None of these menus will affect the information you ENTER about a warrior, but some (Skill Charts) affect the way the program treats your warrior. The most important options are your default skill chart (Skill Chart from the Title Page) and the Skill Listing Order (Design Prefs from the Title Page). Many will want to change these options. The defaults as of release 1.0 are Alphabetical and Terrablood. Creating your first warrior. 1) Start the program, click the DESIGN button (will bring you to the design page) 2) If you want to save the original overview stats, use the arrows and +/- buttons to set the statistics to the values on the original overview. Click the SET button! 3) Now, use the arrows and +/- buttons to design your warrior. You can see the physical attributes (Endurance/Hit Points/Carry/Damage) or the predicted Wit Statements by clicking the button under the style selection button. 4) Choose your style with the drop down style button. 5) Once you've designed your warrior, click the SAVE button. 6) Enter a name, arena, and ID number (if you don't have the full ID number, just enter the arena portion. Click DONE to save the warrior in the DB. 7) Note - you can enter the rest of the warrior information now, but see the next step. 8) Now the warrior is saved in your database. 9) Return to the Management Page and find your warrior (If you can't find your warrior, select the ENTIRE DB from the View Type drop down. 10) If you have the RSI overview, press the In War Ov (Input Warrior Overview) button with your warrior selected. This will go through 3 separate screens to enter information which will help the program track and calculate your warriors bases. 11) Warrior Information - normally, you'll only enter your warrior's activity statement, quickness of foot message, parry substatement, and team. Once the warrior graduates, you'll return to enter favorites and change his arena number. The three selection boxes are to make the warrior inactive, dead, or a tourney warrior. 12) Overview Attributes. Select the warrior's physicals and wit statements. 13) Overview Ratings. For those few warriors that come back with a rating on the overview, select the rating and area. Congratulations, you've now entered your first warrior. Management Page Here is where you'll spend the majority of your time. The top part of the screen is devoted to organization and sorting of warriors. The controls, from left to right are - The View Type - How do you want to group your warriors for viewing? - The Group Arrows - Switch back and forth between groups. - The Sort Order and 'Rev' button for the order to sort the warriors within the group The majority of the screen is the warrior list surrounded by buttons. Just below the warrior list is a Preview Pane (configurable) which shows a preview of your warrior without going to any other screen. Most of the buttons require a warrior to be selected before they'll operate. Here is what each button does: Global Buttons - Do not require a selected warrior 'New Turn' - Enter Turn Data for the entire selected group of warriors. This is a shortcut for entering the 'Turn Data' area for each warrior individually. 'Team' - Enter the Team Section of the program 'Design' - Enter the Design Section of the program Warrior Buttons - Require a selected warrior 'Tourney' - Toggles the warrior's entry into a tournament. This only determines whether the warrior shows up on the "In Tourn" View. 'Overview' - View Warrior Overviews. There are many different overviews, one which can be set as the default view whenever you press the Overview button. 'In War Ov' - When you get a overview from RSI, you will generally enter the new data for the warrior so the program can figure your warrior's bases. 'Edit War' - From here, you can edit almost any characteristic about a warrior. Use with care. 'Skills' - View the Skill situation on a warrior. You can also recalculate the warrior with a new chart. 'Turn Data' - View, modify, and add Turn Data for the warrior. 'Future' - From here, you can see what your warrior might look like after trains or learns. Does not do anything to the warrior in the DB, but let's you look at the warrior after hypothetical training. 'Delete War' - Deletes the warrior entirely from the DB. All Training Information will be gone forever. What if I've got a very experienced warrior and I don't have turn data available or I don't want to enter 300 turns of information?
