Graduation Requirements (updated July 17, 2014)

A warrior graduates from Basic Duel 2 arenas to Advanced Duel 2 arenas after meeting certain requirements. This page is an attempt to quantify what a warrior needs to graduate. This is a work in progress and requirements change somewhat over time. If you have examples (or counter examples), please contact Assur to help this information become better.

In early 2010, several changes appear to have been made. Several high FE warriors (around 90 FE) were pulled after the Spring Mail In. There was also a 30 FE warrior pulled because of skill total.

2014 Update! The chart below is NOT accurate. It is not clear that it was ever accurate, but it certainly isn't accurate today. The early graduation criteria is much more complex than initially thought. The normal graduation criteria and the low rating graduations are accurate (other than the unclarity on Arena FE required with no ratings). Assur believes the inputs are correct (PP's/FE/Arena Record/Skills) but it definitely appears to be a sliding scale. The following generalizations can be made, however:

Definitions

PP's (Political Points) - You gain 5 PP's for every TV or TC. You gain 3 PP's for each turn you spend as Duelmaster. You get 2 PP's for each turn you are ranked as a Challenger Champion. Usually, errors are on the manager's count. However, there are more than a few examples of RSI errors in PP counts (usually double counted PP's or miscounted PP's). There have also been differing reports of how many PP's are gained for a Duelmaster that isn't a Challenger Champion.

FE (Fight Equivalent) - You gain 1 FE for every fight in the arena (unless you died in that fight). You gain 1 FE every time you fight on an odd turn in a tournament. (Put another way, you divide your fights in the tournament by two and round up but do not include grudge matches or fights resulting in death in this count. Grudge matches add an FE if the grudge match is on an odd turn)

Ratings - Expert counts as 1 rating, Advanced Expert or higher counts as 2 ratings (except possibly for underskilled Advanced Expert counts as 1 rating). Ratings must be in areas specific to the style. The following is not completely verified. Arena FE - Number of regular arena fights (not counting deaths or tournament FE).

Total Skills - The total number of skills your warrior has (including base, burned, and learned skills).

The Chart

Description PP's FE Ratings Arena FE Arena Wins Total Skills Notes
Normal Graduation 17 - 3 20 14 - If your warrior doesn't graduate when meeting these requirements, there is likely an error in the warrior's records. These requirements have been in place for almost as long as DM has been around.
17 PP's + 10 Wins + 125 Skills 17? ?? ?? ?? 10 125 One of the early graduation criteria appears to be ?? PP's, 10 Arena Wins, and 125 Total Skills. Variation has been seen on the PP requirement (sliding scale with total skills?). (Stanley's Cup: invite from 9 to 10 wins) (Green Bean: 29 PP's, 142 Skills, 10-2-1, 34FE, invite from 9 to 10 wins) (Honest Jiles: 21 PP's, 166 Skills, 12-2, 81FE, invite going from 16 to 21 PP's and 73 to 81 FE) Have not graduated: (23 PP's, 156 Skills, 12-1, 37FE).
2 Ratings 17 - 2 40 14 - Graduating without 3 ratings simply takes time. These are the best approximations available for graduating warriors without the 3 ratings requirement. Variations have been seen. Since Assur's return in 2010, these criteria have been inconsistent.
1 Rating 17 - 1 50 (40?) 14 - see above
No Ratings 17 - 0 60 (50?) 14 - see above
High Skills - - - - - 165 Originally the number was between 155-160. It is higher now. These are manual pulls
Under 20 Arena Fights 30 31-35? 3 ? 14 - Lower skilled warriors can graduate before 20 arena fights. Warriors in this category: (30 PP's, 105 Skills, 17-2, 34 FE) (36 PP's, 98 Skills, 14-4, 31 FE - got invite on 14th win). (Fly Fisher, DM 21 -30 PP's, 115 Skills, 17-1, 37 FE got invite going from 25 to 30 PP's). (30PP's, 137 Skills, 14-5-2, 35FE invite going from 30 to 35FE). One warrior did not graduate with 29FE (42 PP's, 115 Skills, 17-2, 29 FE)
Under 14 Arena Wins 17 30? 3 20? ?? 115? Currently, only a single data point for this graduation. The warrior got his invite the turn he passed 17 PP's. 18 PP's, 116 Skills, 13-9, 42 FE. This warrior did NOT graduate: (Milk is Out, 36 PP's, 110 skills, 13-14, 30FE))
100 FE ?? 100 ?? ?? ?? ?? Duff of Illis graduated at 8-95 as a Sandbagger right around the time this clause was added. Since then, others have graduated with 100 FE. Reports of dead warriors graduating with 100 FE have also been heard.
Challengers TV/TC Any warrior that TV's/TC's in the challenger class runs the risk of being pulled manually, regardless of other factors.
17 PP's + ?? + High Skills 17 ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? Similar to the 10 wins + 125 skills, there are other breakpoints that do not require 10 wins. They have higher skill total requirements. (One grad: 145 skills, 30PP's, 15-3, 29FE)

Data Points for graduations and non-graduations. Listed as reported, very little verification is being done on these. One assumes that as more data points come in, the errors will become evident.
